A swarm of bees in June
Is worth a silver spoon
– Mother Goose
Bees swarm when it is time to leave an old hive or start a new one. Late Spring and early Summer are the most auspicious times for this challenge as the fields are in bloom. This June the celestial weather patterns, the astrological conditions, are filled with possibilities and challenges. For those fluent in the language of Astrology, there is a Mutable Grand Cross at the Dark of the Moon on June 4th, and then a recurrence of the Mutable Grand Cross at the Summer Solstice which is also the day of the Full Moon on June 20th. There is much more going on, but let’s focus on these occurrences.
On June 4th, the Dark Moon in Gemini takes us deep into the mystery of endings, beginnings, and the unseen powers that move us. At the same time the world seems to be vibrating, almost shaking apart as if there were a great engine running at full speed but without going into gear, without traction. Neptune and Jupiter oppose each other setting our visions, hopes, and fears at odds with our understanding of how the world works and how we conceptualize the rules of the game of life. Saturn opposes Venus, Sun, and Moon showing us what we hold dear and how those things are impacted by the structures we have created or have had imposed upon us. The desire to take action will be great, but it is not time to push yet and birth a new story arc in our lives. Pay attention and gain knowledge. Work to discern what is ready to begin, and what must wait for a better time. Choosing a better when for those things that are stuck, have not rattled loose in the tension, is not the same as giving up on them. The time to swarm is soon, be ready. Acting too soon will lead to disappointment and a loss of heart.
On June 20th, the bright power of the Full Moon is joined by the power of the Solstice Sun. The Mutable Grand Cross has reformed with Mercury taking the place of Venus. Now with what you have been sensing, feeling, and understanding in the time after the Dark of the Moon, you can begin to leave behind the old home and swarm to find and found your new hive. Now, the new arises out of an abundance of energy rather than out of the short lived power of desperation.
Throughout the entire month of June, be mindful of the promises and pledges that you make. Although there may be a strong desire to strike out on your own to avoid the weary work of dealing with others, the work in hand requires many hands and many flights of thought. The challenge is great but the promise of honey on a silver spoon is real. Also remember to tend to your new beginnings, and do not squander your energy on what others are doing with their energy.
